I have made the trip to the end of the ...Well as far as you are allowed to go on the dirt road. All Provoice TRS system. We setup our monitoring post for Milair and a radio for anything else that may be in the area like the Walker Co sheriff.

We had a god old time listening to the Red Flag exercise (1 day of it). Bought a cheap BBQ at Wal-mart and a cooler full of an afternoons / evenings rations.

It's just sort of fun to do.

In all seriousness here. Do government aircraft take and land from there? Has anyone tried to do a airband search while out there?

Does JANET Air still fly employees to and from the Area ? Joint Air Network for Employee Transportation. Saw that on some Discovery channel documentary.

The Janet flights roll on as always based on my monitoring last June.

And Jaymatt, Yes is the short answer. The Janet flights are the closest thing to a non government aircraft that flies in there.

Visual approach aid for area 51

There is a visual approach aid for space traveler's going to area 51.
Try 37 38 44.05N 115 45 02.66W using Google Earth to view.
Not sure if there is a NDB or 75 MHz marker co-located.
