Arkansas State Police, using encryption?

Arkansas State Police are going APCO 25 9600 bps digital as mentioned in previous posts I have made and sitting around thinking about this and reading other groups posts and in other forums I start seeing other members talking about encryption in thier area. Now I had full intentions of buying a mobile 785D and then when the ASP went digital later this year or early 06, I would sell it and my 250D and buy a new digital scanner but if the ASP uses full encryption why would I waste my money. Does anyone know if this would even be feasible for the ASP to do this. I could see them using encryption on certain talkgroups but on regular everyday radio traffic like traffic stops, wrecks, etc. does anyone think they would or could do it? I do know they received most if not all of thier funding from that Homeland Security Grants so they could be APCO 25 compatible. Any suggestions or comments?

well the news post link for the new apco-25 system shows that yes they will be encrypted but i have no idea. Lord i wish their was no such thing as encryption sometimes for talkgroups that arent sensitive

Do we really know for sure if there will be encrypted going on here or just a digital 96bps system?

I really doubt they encrypt the entire system. i can logically see maybe narc and similar units but regular traffic stops. I may be wrong. I have been wrong before. I am wondering if they will go with a similar system as Louisiana a 700mhz system. check out this link:
