my mom used to tell the story of the lights going out in the house and found me with a fork in my hand and a black mark on the outlet.
we sold the house and the mark was still there.

Ya gotta learn somehow. Like I used to hear, "Never trust a skinny cook.". In this case, never trust an electrician/technician that hasn't been lit up a few times. Anyone that hasn't been isn't trying hard enough.

that is why i used to tell my kids to use a fork !
many people get hurt with the knife and there is little information on forks and doing that.
so that proves it is safer.
my 'kids' are in their 30's now and understand my humor.

Found the manual online.

The antenna has two cables coming out of it. One is a coaxial cable for connection to the TV. The other is a USB cord, for powering the amplifier.

Try the antenna with the USB cord unplugged first and see if it does what you need. If not, try powering it up. Not going to damage the scanner, just like it wouldn't damage the TV set.
Awesome! Thank you for looking at that information.

There ya go! My oldest is 19 going on 40 and if I could get him to just stick the darn fork or butteknife in a toaster I would be somewhat happy. He was almost killed in a car wreck a year and a half ago, getting in a car with a friend who was drunk and hit a tree at 90 mph after passing out.

I wish he would just stick to minor jolts from a toaster 🤣
