Hi,

Heard about the program Artemis and downloaded it.
Really seems very impressive, and am anxious to learn how to use it.

a. is there perhaps a User Manual for it, somewhere ?

b. Here's my major "confusion":

I'm assuming it needs a "front end" like SDRConsole. (I use a RSPdx with SDRConsole for most of my sw listening now)
Is this correct ?

If so, how do I interface SDRConsole to it ?

If not, can someone please explain for me how it works, how to configure, etc.

Will blame my ignorance on old age now.

Much thanks,
Bob

Hi,

Much thanks,

Bob,
Where'd you get it from? There's an older thread on RTL-SDR about people putting up shady virus filled websites that represent themselves as it, and people with less than desirable issues after downloading what they thought was it...you good with yours?

You're kidding, right? The SigID Wiki uses Artemis to assist in database lookups for modes. Nothing to do with fake websites, viruses, conspiracy theories (heh), etc...

Ok, that's good to know. I'm only casually aware of it and saw (older and mis)information on off-site threads and wanted to make sure our good friend @BOBRR didn't get caught up with nonsense. No harm, no foul in asking/clarifying.

Hi,

Thanks all.

Once we dig out of snow here in Boston suburbs, about a foot and a half !, will try
and see if I can mesh it with SDRConsole.

Or, does it look at the radio "directly," and not via a program like SDRConsole ?
Manual for it anywhere ?

Seems like a very interesting program.

If anyone has any hints on how to do it, would be appreciative.

Regards, stay well,
Bob

Mode identification on the fly is very tough at the hobby level. It's not always reliable; any noise or fading can fool the application. Fortunately most of the commonly-decoded modes have a distinctive sound that's easy to identify. For example, ALE sounds very different from HFDL, and FAX is totally different from either of them.

The sigid wiki does have sound samples, and that can also be helpful in identifying a mode. There are many, though, that haven't been documented there as yet, or are being investigated. Software to do this is available but it's not for the average hobbyist- in price or functionality.

Hi,

Will probably just forget this program.

Lots of other stuff to learn, and this site really confuses me.
Without some kind of a User Manual, it's tough for me.

Interesting program, but...

If anyone does come across one, though, please do keep me in mind.

Thanks, as always, for thoughts.
