So I made a post no one is reading or responding to. I have no doubt it is because I made it to long. I was in a rambling mood when I typed it which was mistake #1 on my part. I want to rewrite it much shorter and to the point because I really am in need of help and sick of endless reading for the last 3 weeks and not obtaining the answers I need. SO I WANT TO DELETE MY LAST POST BUT THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS I CAN FIND TO EXPLAIN HOW TO DO THAT AND THERE ARE NO BUTTONS TO CLICK OR DIRECT ME TOWARDS OPTIONS TO DO THIS. So will someone please explain to my dumbarse how to delete a post I created. I have even payed for a subscription with RR.COM and still not seeing any new or useful Imformation. Reading and reading and reading. Learning tons of stuff. Everything except for the things I need help with. Deleting a post is now among my list of interests this site is not providing me with. So will someone please enlighten me. Thanks in advance. Also. It appears I may need to find myself someone that would be willing to be my "ELMER". If i understand correctly that would be a person willing to give me some of their personal time to teach me how to do the things I am interested in. In my case those things are simply to program my radios so I may scan and listen. I have little interest in chatting on the radio (im somewhat of an introvert. I have difficulty speaking to others) or stepping on anyone's frequencies.. I just want to listen to whats happening in my local area & areas I travel around. I also want to learn how to setup and connect my 2 low cost portables to each other so I can give my 1 radio to my only close trusted friend incase of emergencies or our cell phones fail. (There simply has to be a better/easier way to learn how to obtain the info needed to program channels to scan & listen to) I have been reading endlessly at radio academy to obtain a technician license. Non of that information is helping to understand how to find needed info to program and listen to P25 stations or DMR. I am to understand my baofeng DM32 is able to listen and communicate with both types of services and more. All I am able to do is basic analog and CTCSS/DCS channel programming on my 5RM. I can program the same into the DM32. But beyond that I keep getting confused despite everything i am reading about these digital services. Its becoming super frustrating and I may give up and sell my radios soon if no one has the common courtesy/ general niceness to give me a hand. I am not a smart person nor am I completely stupid either, but the things I am reading just are not clicking together in my head. I have tried repeatedly to setup digital channels and have failed each time. And digital is where most chitchat I want to hear is happening at. I have learned enough to make use of a radio in an emergency I think,... but theres much to learn about programming digital and much of it does not make sense despite how much I have been studying. OK I guess ive said enough. Hopefully someone out there is nice enough to actually help me out instead of being grumpy old people making the huge mistake of ASSUMING (which is the mother of all fk ups) that I am some type of trouble maker just because I have not spent years studying radio like many here have. You are in a position to help teach the next generation so please do not be selfish and do not assume I am something I am not especially when you have no clue who I am. I am here for help and this website is here to give help. If you are not here to help or learn then well..... you joined the wrong community of people and picked the wrong hobby.

Fortunately you weren't in a rambling mode when you posted this.

Anyway, see the below post...

Specifically this bullet point...

3) How do I delete my post(s) or thread(s)?
You don't. Only a Moderator can delete your post(s) or thread(s). Typically we do not delete posts or threads no matter what. Keep in mind that Google and other search engines index the site fairly often and chances are your post is now archived for all eternity. If your reason for having your post deleted is due to your job situation or you've posted confidential information that you shouldn't have, please review this thread: Posting company or priviledged information on these forums.

Why not write the shorter / concise request for help and just post a reply to your existing thread? Do not click "Reply" under your original post, as it will quote that message in the reply. Just type it into the empty dialog box under the original message and click the blue "Post reply" button.

Doing so will get the thread back into the latest messages. Just do not write "War and Peace" again. :)

This you need licenses for, regardless of what you've read with the radios you have. If you need license free get blister pack FRS or MURS radios. Those would be plug and play for you and your friend assuming he's close enough.
I am to understand my baofeng DM32 is able to listen and communicate with both types of services and more.
Again, regardless of what you've read that radio will NOT do P-25.

Frankly I can't be of much further help. I know nothing about the Baofeng radios but I suspect their DMR programming is at least similar to any other brand. DMR requires the frequency for transmit and receive, a color code, a time slot, and the talk group number to be able to receive what you're wanting to hear unless that radio has some sort of promiscuous mode which some of the cheaper radios have. As you mentioned you'd be better off finding someone local or perhaps a local ham club to help you along your way. DMR is not now nor has it ever been a beginner thing.

The topic of the OP's post was answered in the first reply. If anyone wants to help him please go to his original post (that he wanted deleted, but ended up asking the same thing in this post for some reason).
