You have to sign up for a Yahoo! Group to download it, and I never got approved, after about 3-4 months, maybe more. Did anyone have any luck getting approved to join the group? http://www.atcsmon.com/.

I did. (I've left it recently as nobody uses ATCS in my area and probably won't ever.)

Maybe you didn't convince the Moderator that you would contribute anything to the beta testing process or something.

I've recently tried to sign up again and got an e-mail about it asking me some questions.

Yeah, I got approved yesterday and downloaded it. It is quite like MDT Monitor, I wonder if they had any of MDT Monitor's source code.

I checked out ATCS Monitor a few years ago but didn't want to mess with moding my scanner. I just got a Pro-2096 and was wondering if it would work without a mod. Thanks, Mike

Remember to use 161.115 MHz for EOTMon if you're in Norfolk Southern territory...

EOTMon

Where is EOT.mon located? In the files section of the yahoo group? I'm about 6 miles from the BNSF track in northeast Missouri. ATCS sounds neat, but I don't have a radio with a disc. tap. Thanks.

I filled out an application, tried sending it, took over 5 times to get down to the min. amount of characters, thats why they dont let no one in becasue they think were are b.s. ing. If we were allowed to use more characters to use we could fully explain ourselves.

I found an OLD stand alone version of EOT monitor laying around. Try out the attached zip file. (Eotmon.zip)

You may or may not need the apigid32 for Eot mon. zip file depending on your computer. If you need it, unzip it into the same file folder as EOT monitor.

You will need a discriminator tap for this program to run.

Good luck

Cool thanks a bunch. Had to copy and paste the other .dll into the folder.

What port does it monitor? Com 1, 3 etc. How would it know?

Does it take audio input?

But those older 161.115 MHz. EOT's used on NS do not use the same protocol as 457.9275 units. The old NS units used DTMF (Touchtone) at a pretty fast rate.

You can decode the digits being sent with commercial DTMF decoders or software, but the numbers themselves really won't help much. I have never tried to figure out the number pattern, but can pretty well guess that there is a unique ID in there as well as check digits mixed in with the data being sent.

I have heard that NS was phasing out the old 161.115 units in favor of the more industry standard UHF units since the Conrail merger.

If you're interested in stuff like ACTS then you shouldn't be afraid of a discriminator tap, it's easy. Look up your discriminator output pin and then solder one leg of a resistor to it, I tend to go with one a bit lower than 10 kOhm like 5.6k. Drill a 3/8 inch hole in the back of the case (taking care that your drill doesn't slip and drill something on the circuit board once it goes through) and screw an RCA jack in there. Connect the other end of the resistor to that or extend it with a resistor leg or what have you. That's basically what I do, YMMV. Ask someone more experienced to help you if you're worried.
