I'm in Pa. USA. Keyboard on my Sangean 909X2 quit. My hands aren't as steady as they used to be.
So, anyone have an idea who repairs these portables ? Thanks guys. Mickh.

try a reset?

The Reset Swith situated at the bottom of the receiver case will reset the Time and Microprocessor
only. All memory presets will remain intact. Reprogram time in accordance to earlier instruction

Yep; first thing I tried, reset. Maybe a dozen times. Thanks for the reply.

Worse comes to worse, depower the radio completely for about 2 minutes.

Sangeans lately have some periodic, small glitches with their keyboard entry (i.e., hitting the power button and it goes up one channel, hitting the band button and it gives you the time, etc.), that is usually fixed via a cold reboot, i.e. removing ALL power and then resetting that way. I've done this with my PR-D5 and PR-D14.

It wouldn't hurt to try it if you haven't. I'm only suggesting this because it's possible that the 909X2 has similar keyboard recognition firmware.

Yep, tried it, no luck. Even took out the batteries over nite. And, still no luck. Thanks

Maybe try the Antique Radio Forum, if no one here has any idea of repairs. From what you've described it sounds like some sort of hardware failure, like a ribbon detaching or something. Might be a simple fix for someone who has SMT skilles. You might also want to contact Sangean. They might have a list of repair people. I've read on a forum before of them being a good help. It would be worth a try.

Thanks, I'll give both a try. I'm thinking ribbon too; but, at 73 my hands and eyes aren't what they used to be. I'm afraid I might
make it worse.

OK, got the keypad working again. Local Ham tapped the back of the radio, with a small screw driver handle. And, the keypad came
back to life. He said he got the trick from another Ham who had the same trouble. It seems a very small cable, inside, can
work it self lose. Had a feeling about that. So, good for now. Happy I didn't need to open the radio this time. Careful. just a
light tap did it. If it happens to you, try not to be too "Ham handed". Don't want to break something else inside. Thanks again
for the reply's. Mick...
