Streaming Scanner Audio and Display Over Internet to Another Home

Hello. Hopefully this horse hasn't been beat to death (and I'm sure it has) but I'm having trouble understanding a few things and my searches haven't turned up much info to help me. I have two scanners running in my home, a BCD996XT and BCD996P2 that I have used FreeScan to program. I'm fairly proficient with that software and have used the remote control functions of that software to monitor the scanner using my computer as well as pull logs to help me with my programming. Here is where I'm thinking of taking the next step. My dad lives about a mile from me and he is using a Boefeng radio as a scanner to listen to the analog channels around us. Our county SO and nearest city FD are both P25 so he's out of luck with those two. Since the computer on my desk next to the BCD996P2 is always on and my scanner is already connected to it, I'd like to add an audio cable into the computer to capture the audio from the scanner. Using the USB and audio connections, I'd like to be able to provide some sort of feed over the internet where I could setup a small tablet at his house that could mirror the scanner display and play the audio for him to listen to. Is the paid ProScan the only way to go to do this? I don't need the software for programming. I see a few free versions of the ProScan software available but I'm unsure if these will provide the audio and display features I'm looking for. Or, can FreeScan somehow do this as well?
Thanks for any guidance!

Who is your internet provider? And do you have a router that supports port forwarding? These are important before you go any further.

Freescan won’t help you do what you want. The paid ProScan license will but I believe RadioFeed from same author as ProScan will too and it is free. Not sure if the meta-tags are shared with RadioFeed or not

Thanks. I'm using Optimum as my internet provider. I'm using their equipment and it took me a bit to figure out how to access the port forwarding settings but see those now. I was looking at RadioFeed and if it'll work I'd like to go that route but the display is important. I can almost tell by ear what channels I'm listening to but I'd bet he wouldn't be able to and would be confused. However, if the paid version is the only option to get the audio and replicate the display then I could look at that, too. There are other people I could provide it to and use it myself remotely as well. I'd be curious to see how the RadioFeed software works compared to the paid version.

The documentation for RadioFeed claims text tags (meta-data) can be sent across and displayed if media player in use supports their use. I'd say you'll get what you want.

I've never heard of Optimum being an issue for anyone and if their supplied router supports port forwarding I'd say this is a good sign.

You will want to use the Web Server feature. WinAmp will show the metadata. The web page will too.
RadioFeed won't show the scanner display like ProScan does.

Am I correct that over the internet ProScan will duplicate the scanner interface? How is the metadata from RadioFeed displayed? Is it just plain text in the media player? Thanks!

Yes, using the Web Server or Remote Scanner Over IP features.

Yes, depending on the Custom Format options entered in. Located in the Metadata tab.

I would download, install, and run it. Your questions may be answered.

I believe I've messed this up. I apparently installed an older version of the software and now it says the trial period is over. I uninstalled the old version, tried cleaning the registry, etc but installing the latest version is not correcting the trial counter. I'd really like to have a clean install of this to try so I can see if this will work for what I'm trying to do. Can you help with that?

Thanks!

When you last tried PROSCAN why did you not buy it then?
Nope at some point in time you loaded PROSCAN and the 30 day trial has expired. Bob may or may not fix or reset that for you.

I installed an older version, 16 or 17 I believe. As soon as it started it said the trial had already expired. I uninstalled that version, downloaded the latest version from ProScan directly and received the same message. I've tried uninstalls and reinstalls but it didn't remove the counter.

@bigmac58 If you installed the older version 16 or 17 where did you get this version they were released several years ago so back to the point you have installed PROSCAAN before and used your 30 day free trial it is time to pay.
At some point in time more than 1 month ago you installed PROSCAN if you remember it or not.
PROSCAN sets a tag in the registry when that tag expires in 30 days the program will not start and run.
The only way to clear that tag is BUY A KEY FROM PROSCAN or TOTALY REINSTALL WINDOWS TO GET A NEW 30 DAYS.
Spend the $50.

An older version of PS won't cause that.

Not sure. This is a thin client that I’m only using for browsing and my scanner. A simple system restore to 1/16 fixed it for me. The 30 day trial has reset.
