Hello

I stream 4 scanners through 4 audio cards. Well 3 cards actually in addition to the onboard audio.

Anyway, I've moved everything to a better computer, but after installing other needed cards I'm only left with 2 regular PCI slots for audio cards. Newer equipment is moving away from the number of older PCI slots and toward the PCI-E or Express slots on the motherboard.

I'm looking for the least expensive way to get another audio device installed. I tried one of these USB audio devices but for whatever reason couldn't get my XP computer to recognise the "mic" input.

I took it back to my local electronic store and am now looking at something like this or one of these that have an actual "line in" instead of just a "mic in".

Anyone had any successful experiences with these types of USB audio devices? Or any other suggestions.

Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter:

I have the same predicament as you......lots of feeds on 1 PC (4) and not enough PCI slots ;-) Any way, I use a SB 24-bit external USB sound card to handle my additional needs and it works great on XP. But, it's not the "least expensive" way to add a sound card ($50 retail if you can still find them). It does have a real line-in however.

Good luck!
