BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Audio type on Custom Searches?

On the 996P2 I have a Custom Search set up, looking for new stations in my area. The radio will "hit" and stop on a few frequencies that are known to me, and I know these frequencies are digital audio. However, when the scanner stops on these frequencies, there is just "motorboating" (no intelligent audio) as if the radio is treating them only as analog audio. I don't see any setting to control the audio format (All, Digital Only, Analog Only for example) on the detected frequencies. Is there a way to tell the radio to detect the audio as Digital in a Custom Search?
