Well, it was fun while it lasted. Some time over this last night, Aurora PD went back to having their consoles encrypted, making all PD traffic unmonitorable again...

No crumbs for the plebs anymore!

The last transmissions I received were yesterday at 9:33 a.m. for D2 and D3, and at 10:00 a.m. for D1. However I am seeing a few transmissions on Services 1 at this time.

And your point is? Aurora had their dispatchers in the clear for several years and they pulled the plug this week where a decision had obviously come down from someone in the command chain.

How many times do we have to go over this useless law does nothing when it comes to public access to dispatch communications in the clear.

Until we start seeing dispatch centers in the area dropping ENC on dispatch groups bringing up this law is pointless.

Look up 24-6-502 CRS
"A law enforcement agency that encrypts all of its radio communications shall create a communications access policy, through collaboration with Colorado-based media outlets, that includes an agreement governing access for the media to primary dispatch channels or talk groups through commercially available radio receivers, scanners, or any other feasible technology. The policy may include, but is not limited to, verification of media credentials; reasonable restrictions on the use of the commercially available radio receivers, scanners, or other feasible technology; and financial or other costs related to the sale, lease, or loan of the commercially available radio receivers, scanners, or any other feasible technology."

Hmm, since we are now the media (via X and whatnot), they should not encrypt. PERIOD.

The process in the endevour would entail:

Proof and actual media credentials. Probability of having a criminal backgroud check by the agencies.

Purchase of an APX series radio from a certain manufacturer around at least $4K plus depending on the flashcode needed. Sorry no ebay specials.

In order to hear everything again like the "good old days" one would have to:

Negotiate with Adams County, Arapahoe County (and Centennial), Aurora, Broomfield, Castle Rock, Commerce City, Denver, Doulglas County, Englewood, Fort Collins, Estes Park, Glendale, Golden, Greenwod Village, Jefferson County, Larimer County, Littleton, Lonetree, Longmont, Loveland, Northglenn, Parker, Thornton and Westminster in order to have said radio programmed and keyloaded.

Easily accomplished in a day.

CRS = Can't Receive S....
