Only advantage I know of is the cable and Globestat set up runs about 40 bucks and the Uniden Universal Kit is about 80 bucks. Only nice thing about the universal is it can be used on many different Uniden scanner models. I made my own for the 436 using the linked Globestat and made my own cable. Made a gps for my Sds200 and that was 10 bucks total cost.

Wish I had investigated this $80 ago, but I've had it a year plus, so whatever. Advice for the next guy.

I did the same for the 436's and SDS100. Don't have a 200 yet.

Yeah, I kinda messed up on the 200. I mean what I did works and all with gps shown below.

But the first module I had tried would not lock on gps with the internal antenna. Went thru 3 of them before trying the one above. The one below did work with an external patch antenna.

And now that the warranty is up, I wish I had kept it as I could have drilled one hole and mounted it via the sma and wired it inside the scanner with a simple on off switch. The patch I have is magnetic. So if the one above craps out, I will get this one and go that route.

I'm sure it original not working with the internary antenna was because it was essentially in a Faraday cage.

No, they had a bad batch as I saw others using the same one with no problems. The 3 I tried were not inside anything at that point and still would not lock on gps with just the module in the middle of a field with open view of the sky.

The one I have now, that only has internal antenna works good and locks on sats in about 4 seconds.
