Was one for sale on this forum but after just checking, not listed. Not sure if he sold it or pulled the ad. It was high in price but since its the best handheld receiver on the market, it will be high on used ones. One draw back is no DMR. Good luck finding one.

In addition to the classifieds here, they also pop up on eBay and QRZ.com from time to time. Icom calls it a 'portable communications receiver' rather than s scanner; being an absolutely excellent radio (I've got one, love it), they command a very premium price, recently over $700. On top of that, new battery packs cost over $100 each, and the dry cell pack is getting tougher to find.

Best to get the AA battery holder if you get a R30. When I bought mine, I made sure to order that too. Never used it yet so don’t know how fast the batteries drain when scanning. May have to test it out to see if

If you find a good deal on a battery, please post where you got it. Mine is getting a bit old and probably needs a replacement in near future.

The R30 takes the same battery as the R15, so they should be easy to find. It takes the BP‑287. That does not make them cheap. At HRO they go for $129.95.

For me I'd get a genuine ICOM battery rather than a knock-off. That's just my preference.

Another option is the AA Battery case. It probably won't power the scanner for as long as the BP-287 before you need to change the AA batteries, but it's cheaper and powered by cheap widely available batteries. I use rechargeable batteries in mine.
ICOM IC-BP293

Another R30 on eBay this weekend starting at 499, us seller. Definitely worth posting a want to buy post here on RR. Both of mine came from here, mint.
