Hi. I have a HomePatrol 1 and a 436. With the HP1, when scanning the entire database i can avoid a whole system, department or channel at once. But on the 436 i can't find how to do this, and can only avoid by channel. Is there a way to avoid entire system or department on the 436, when scanning the full database? Thanks.

George

Press the system or department button, then avoid.

Same question. I have tried the EZ manual but still have trouble.

Somehow I manage to avoid or skip departments without trying. Other times I want to avoid or skip a department but can't.

Please.....explain simply how to do it!!!!

RTFM linked in post #2, particularly the sections titled "Avoiding Transmissions" and "Review Scan Avoids".

Apparently you understood my post as well as I can RTFM

It doesn't help and I see no avoids, it just won't scan them even though I can scroll through it manually.

If you get nothing when you review Avoids, then Avoids aren't your problem. Check Quick Keys, Service Types, and location settings. Check the GPS coordinates in Sentinel to verify that the scanner is scanning the correct area. Also, verify that your Favorite List(s) are turned on, and that you are reviewing your Favorite List(s) for Avoids rather than the Main Database.

What have you been doing to avoid "things"? If we had some idea of what you have been doing, we can help you reverse the process.

Also, and there is lots of discussion on this in these forums, Quick Keys are probably your better choice to cease scanning "things" rather than avoiding. It's a lot easier to resume scanning with Quick Keys.

Eureka!
Service Types was the problem, turned off
I have never changed one so I have no idea how it was changed.
Went back and looked at the Database and they were on as they should be-Fire Tac

Thanks!
