Hello,

The cable length is 10 Feet of RG174. I use the same antenna on the 396 using FME to SMA Adapter. I am extremely pleased with its' performance. No issues.

Yeah no one ever talks about this AWESOME antenna. It is the BEST 800mhz mobile antenna I have ever used bar none!

I have an antenna just like the Valor ProAm PMM3B, however it just has one coil towards the bottom instead of the two it shows at Universal Radio's web site.

How do I put a bnc connector on RG-174? Would I have to use a SMA to BNC converter? What's the method?

I get cell antennas all the time at work. I was surprised to see that this looks just like one I recently got a hold of.

I use a cell antenna attached to the heater vent on the ceiling when I don't want to be connected outside during thunderstorms. Works very well in most bands as well, considering it's a cell ant. Heater vent provides, I think a good ground plane.Boo!-Poltergeisty :-0

Hello,

If the connector is FME, which most cellular antennae have, you can use a FME to BNC adapter. I have the FME to BNC adapter which works fine with no issues.

Can you post a picture or link of a FME to BNC adapter?

I have an Accord and I can't see where 10' is gonna get from the trunk to the dash even straight down the center of the car. Anyone feel free to correct me or tell me what you did to extend it while minimizing signal loss.

Hello,

Here are some photos. Please excuse the quality. I don't have a link for the adapter.

Hello,

The antenna is designed for portable use. It is an application for the roof of vehicles, and the cable is supposed to be run between the door seals. You could extend the cable but it may add some loss, and more connectors.

I guess I'll need to put that connector back on. I had cut it off.

The thing is, now I could just go straight to BNC, however as you may be aware the cable is too small. This is what I would like to do so I can minimize my loss.Boo!-Poltergeisty :-0

Hello,

You can put any connector on the cable. There are extensions available with FME Connectors. If you increase the length of RG174 to 15', the loss is about 58.3% at 860 MHz according to Times Microwave Cable Loss Chart. The antenna has a gain of 5.12 dbi. There are many ways to extend the cable, add an adapter, and minimize loss.

An extension cable can be found HERE using RG58 and FME connectors.
