Anyone now which detatchment is using the RCMP B3 RPTR around the Calgary area. Have heard lots of coms on this RPTR in the evenings and on weekends the last couple. Checked the database and found Kananaskis to be the only one that is anything close to calgary but still quite far. I due have an external discone antena on my place but have never heard any coms on B3 until now. Has anyone else in our area heard anything or figured out how is using it.
Thanks

Seemed to be coming to good for skip. You would think all channels would be coming in better if their was good skip conditions. I now A2 and A7 come in weak all the time for me. The comes coming in on B3 are booming in.

Propagation on VHF

I thought I had read somewhere that propagation was supposed to be good for VHF on Friday 2010 June 4 so not sure if this has anything to do with these VHF frequencies. I really have not been listening much to activity with an outside antenna the past few days, only the portable Uniden scanner. So cannot comment if 155.535 is coming in better. Certainly hasn't been warm enough in Calgary for thermal ducting, but there was a geometric storm earlier in the week so could account for some VHF openings. Just another thought and no proof for this, but it is the holiday season with more people visiting Kan. country, so there could be a new repeater with better coverage in that area. As was mentioned on another post, RCMP expect hand held coverage in most areas, so could there be a new repeater set up on one the mountains in K country? Hopefully, someone will have an answer to this posting if the reception is consistantly better [would exclude propagation effects].

Also forgot to mention you wont miss this channel due to the fact that every time somebody keys down you hear a squelch like sound. Its like having a built in channel notification.

B3 Kananaskis repeater activity.

A6 (Canmore)
B3 (Kananaskis)
A8 (Peter Lougheed PP/Highwood Pass)

Are now hard linked together so that the members don't have to patch back to A6 to talk to their home detachment (Canmore). Comm centre activity is multicast on all three repeaters.

Thanks beeperboy. Good catch. Hopefully it comes threw loud and clear for a long time then. Didn't hear any coms yesterday. You would think with Canmore linked in with B3 you would hear lots of coms on that channel as they are always something going on with HP on the highway 1.
