Bad crash Loveland/Ft Collins

A reported crash between car and truck with car possibly under the truck and truck on fire. Also a grass fire resulted. (This is what was dispatched but so far, not confirmation from the scene.)

This occurred about the 7000 S. Taft Hill Road (North of 57th and Wilson in Loveland).

Sounds like this could go Code Black.

They're not talking it up much so information is hard coming.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Date: 06/07/11 Time: 10:10 P.M.





This evening at 5:14 P.M. Colorado State troopers responded to a two-vehicle head on crash resulting in one fatality in Larimer County.



A 1999 Kenworth Cement truck was traveling northbound on Larimer County Road 19, one mile north of 57th street. A 2009 Chevy sedan was traveling southbound on Larimer County Road 19. The Chevy crossed into the northbound lane striking the Kenworth head on. The vehicles then traveled off the east side of the road where the vehicles caught fire. The fire was extinguished a short time later.



The unidentified male driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Kenworth was uninjured.



Larimer County Road 19 was closed for several hours while the crash was being investigated.



This crash remains under investigation.

Intresting postscript to this crash: This death has now been ruled a suicide.
