Boy that was a bad day to quit smokin'. That was in Abuquerque at the KKOB AM 770 tower. I think they had to shut off the transmitter until they climbed off the tower.

That does not look like a standard hot air balloon. Looks like it might have been a "Yogi Bear" balloon, or something similiar.

Where is the main transmitter antenna? Usually they are at the very top. All i see at the top is a beacon light. Hmmm...

It's AM - the tower IS the antenna.

Good excuse to do some base jumping ..

Yeah and they are a 50,000 watt station so sparks could fly for anyone climbing around the base to ground. That's probably the reason for the bucket truck to get those folks off before they got to close to the ground.
