• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Was wondering if anyone could help me. I cant figure out how to get my UV-5R5 to be heard when talking with the motorola RDM2070D on channel 1. I can hear on all channels and talk on all channels except channel 1. Any suggestions?

You'd have to check the programming in your radio. Could be it has transmit inhibited, could be there's a tone squelch that you do not have set correctly. But you'll need to know ALL of the programming settings for "Channel 1" and confirm they are all set correctly on your radio.

Easist way is go to the radio dept and ask what you need on Channel 1. If not , go ro the database here, and see if you can fin d your channel 1, possibly the database shows what is the input. If that doesn;'t work, go the county print out within the database, locate your outpit frequency, not the call sign, and look for another frequency that has the same call sign. Many times the same call signs, are paired together. Now the tone being used, thats a crap shoot. On a older system, the same tone is used thoughout.

Those radios appear to have 122 possible tone codes. There's no reason that code would be listed with the FCC or elsewhere, except with the licensee's own documentation, i.e. "in house" and not necessarily distributed to anyone else.

There are some radios that can scan for tones and allow you to match them, but your radio probably is not one of them. It is designed to be programmed by someone who is authorized by the licensee.

If you are supposed to be talking to those other radios, there is an administrator in charge of them. If they have authorized your radio, they can tell you what the settings are, or who "the radio guy" is, that does the setting for them. Their license application probably limits the number of radios they are allowed to have in use as well, so if the administrator doesn't know about your radio and authorize its use, you may have other problems.
