Based on some monitoring I did today (05-22-2025), Barrington Fire is still using their VHF-High frequency, 153.9500 PL 167.9, for two-tone alert dispatching. Perhaps they use that to alert Motorola Minitor pagers (or equivalent) for any fire/rescue dispatches.

I also heard today an East Providence Rescue come into Barrington for mutual aid and they also came up on 153.9500 PL 167.9 to contact Barrington Fire Alarm. Seeing that their 153.9500 channel is simplex, you have to be in relatively close proximity and/or have a very good VHF-High antenna to pick up the mobiles directly. YMMV

EPFD also communicates with the Seekonk FD on 483.4500 in the clear when they respond to a call for mutual aid. Seekonk & Barrington FD can also talk on EPFD TG1866. A day doesn't go by that EPFD needs a mutual aid rescue from both communities.
