Enid NXDN Simulcast Shutting down

The Enid, OK Fire Department has shut down its NXDN Simulcast system. According to the Fire Chief, it was due to "feedback" being heard through the station speakers. I was listening as this was going on and I personally think that it was someone unauthorized keying up on the repeater as I could hear the radio being moved around/background noises. Does anyone know of a scanner that will pick up NXDN Trunk other than an SDR and SDS-100/200? I spoke with the fire chief in reference to this and he is almost completely against using the Simulcast system. I brought up the fact that it makes great interop with other agencies, he then told me that no agencies use that to contact them. I know that is not true, as I have seen it very often with a Medi flight coming in, it was their patch into the NXDN System vs using OK Fire 1.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

What did he say they were going to use for communications?
I don't know of many that still use NXDN in central OK. Maybe its more common in the Enid area.

They're still using the NXDN Trunk, the link from NXDN to analog/analog to NXDN is shut down. Meaning the only way to listen to transmissions will be monitoring the trunking system. Yes Enid/Garfield County loves NXDN. City of Enid is on a trunk and all county channels are NXDN Conventional.

I wish Kenwood would allow NXDN Radios to allow monitoring NXDN Trunks in conventional mode, as I have several. The only way I can think of being able to monitor is an NAS From the city (I highly doubt they will do that), SDR, or an SDS-100/200.

For every public safety agency chief/director that uses the NFPA recommendations for P-25, there's another one who would use non-NFPA standards to keep any and all control of their agency.
