I am sure they have radio traffic, any ideas how to find them? It's almost like they have seen the system show up on RR, and changed it, it worked well for one day then it's gone??
What makes you think they're talking on a radio 24/7? Who would they be talking to? There is no snow on the roads, so they're not out plowing. You seem to think they should be talking on the radio all day, and I think it's quite the opposite.

As far as being on the P25 system one day, then gone; that could've been a patch so that police, fire, EMS, and Dispatch could hear and communicate with the county highway dept.

Yes, I know law enforcement can contact them by radio, and I know they have been out working, my concern is the system was changed in some way? I was hoping some one on here could confirm yes or no?

I have lost Bartholomew Highway again, not on anything currently listed on here, i really am wanting to tune it in for weather information more than anything, I know they got some new radios back in the summer, now I cant find them anywhere?

I search around on snowy days and I've picked up a carrier occasionally from Greenwood on 151.085 cc7. Wasn't sure if it was them or someone else. Never heard any actual audio just carrier.

Today I heard snow plow activity on:
151.085 CC 7 TG 1 SL 1
151.085 CC 7 TG 2 SL 2 (infrequently used)

I'm guessing this is Bartholomew County but I never heard any landmarks mentioned to confirm that.

By the way, I have yet to find Brown Co Hwy snow plows on the radio

I am looking for Bartholomew County Highway Indiana again, I had them on Columbus City services, #21 until last fall now they are gone and I could not find them on 151.085, I have set my sds200 to record on the #21 and 151.085 and nothing, I know the scanner is programed right in Columbus City services, I can receive other groups, I avoided them all but #21? I know they have some new radios, I wonder if they may have moved to safe-t p25 somewhere to be with the sheriff dept? I really liked to listen to the highway dept in the winter for road conditions.

I hear nothing here on 151.085, I have recorded that frequency for days and I hear nothing from Bartholomew County.

I heard them mentioning a hydraulic issue with a snow plow and to "call Tracy". There's a Tracy listed as a mechanic at Bartholomew County Hwy so I'm pretty sure that's who I am hearing.

No idea why I can hear it from Greenwood but you can't hear it from within Bartholomew County. Do you have the service types enabled?

Yes I have it all enabled, but I don't know anything about DMR, I don't see them going back to a VHF frequency, that would require new antennas. I am hearing less on public safety frequencies too, kind of makes me think encryption may be a part of it? I had a my brother and another friend worked for Bartholomew County Highway years ago, and i listened to them all the time, both have passed on, when we had snow, they would talk all the time, I really miss hearing them push snow and the road conditions. I hope to find someone who know how to receive the signal or inform me what is really going on with the Hwy radios?

I would expect to hear allot of traffic when it snows, and I hear nothing on 151.085.

Right. So apparently the 151.085 repeater was switched over to a DMR repeater that can be shared by many users.

The issue is: it takes more than just knowing its "DMR" to listen to it.

DMR has 3 parameters that need to be known in order to program a scanner to listen to a specific user.

You need to know the (1) Color Code, the (2) Slot, and the (3) Talkgroup number.

On the Bartholomew Co listing it shows the Sheriff's Dept using this DMR repeater utilizing a Color Code (written as: CC) of "4".

The Slot (written as: SL) is an asterisk, meaning someone did not know which Slot they operate on. There are only two options for Slot: Slot 1, or Slot 2.

The Talkgroup (written as: TG) is an asterisk, meaning someone did not know which Talkgroup they were using.

In the programming softwares, an asterisk tells the scanners to search for anything that it hears.

On the County Highway listing, it just says DMR. It doesn't list a CC, SL, or TG; and it doesn't list any asterisks either, so I'm not sure that it's even trying to search 151.085 for any DMR signal at all.

You said you're not hearing anything, but it may be that you haven't programed enough information into the scanner to even attempt to hear it.

So, you're back to square one. To verify that there is DMR radio traffic on 151.085, you can program that frequency into your scanner as an analog FM channel. If you start hearing digital/computer-type noise being transmitted on that channel, then that will tell you that there is, in fact, digital radio traffic on that frequency.

(or you could just skip to the following step)

Program in the Sheriff's Dept's DMR channel. It's the same frequency, with CC:4, and asterisks for SL and TG, meaning it'll let you hear any Slot and any Talkgroup that comes across that frequency.

If the Sheriff's Dept uses SL: 2, TG: 101..you'll hear it.

If the Highway Dept uses SL: 1, TG: 301.. You'll hear it.

If the Health Dept uses SL: 1, TG 116.. You'll hear it.
I programed all the DMR stuff from here and put into a favor list and recorded it for two days and did not hear anything, and I do have the DMR update for my sds200??

Yes, I don't understand it, I programed it in the best I know how and recorded it for a week, and nothing. I just changed it to ID search, and put 151.085 into as a conventional channel to see if I can here some data, I have it in a favorites list so I can record it 24-7 next week. I had a friend tell me he thought they went to cellphones...

Still nothing on conventional 151.085, no data sounds, and nothing on the DMR i programed in, the highway dept may have something on 151.085, but they sure are not using it, as I have recorded everything on this frequency for days, and I hear nothing, and I know they are using some kind of communications?

I did most of the programing through RR WITH SANTINEL softwear, I had a friend that has a 200, he did most of the programming at first, he could not find BARTHILOMEW COUNTY HIGHWAY himself, i have been trying to find it for about six weeks, I thought if I put this out on this form I may get lucky and find someone that has found it. I was also thinking becouse I ran a two-way radios business in the past they would give me the information? Before trunking came on the market I got out of the business, I know they are using sompthing, When I seen this frequency listed as DMR it was a surprise, but I did get the DMR update from Uniden, I might note i found some frequencies listed as DMR that worked before I bought the DMR code, I have no idea how DMR works and if it's in someway mixed up in a trunking system. When I sold radios, the 151.085 repeater was used at night sometimes by the sheriff dept and also used by other county people, like code enforcement, and other county likewise county employes.
I did hear one thing last week on DMR, I am sure it was county highway, just once, maybe the system has not been fully setup yet?
