i have been looking at some of the QRP radios. Many of them have modern digital features that I may not have any use for.
a waterfall might be nice though. Thinking of mostly CW but voice would be good to have too. I have a very nice mountain top on my property that might do really good with low power !
Anyone have a recommendation of brand and model ?
Thanks- Tim

CW and digital modes have known frequency areas. No need for a waterfall there. A waterfall is helpful for catching phone, if you hunt and pounce. If one is going to find an open freq and just call CQ, no waterfall needed.

I have a modest station with two OCF dipoles running perpendicular to a switch to favor either N/S or E/W. I also have a K4KIO hex beam, but that only covers 20-6 meters. Having these antenna options helps my effort towards having fun.

A mountain top / elevation is mostly helpful with VHF/UHF stuff. My radio budget would be whatever is left after obtaining two OCF antennas and support masts if needed, Also, MyAntennas choke baluns, coaxial cable and a switch. Some Scotch 33 and Temflex tape as well.

I enjoy portable QRP, but for phone I found that 20 watts keeps it fun. A 30-50 Ah LFP battery and a 50 watt folding solar panel will keep things powered when you need the ummph for phone. A 12v 36Ah battery will handle a 7~8Ah draw and last for years.
