I've been hearing a of traffic on 168.3500MHz (TAC4). I have only been able to hear one side so far. Today is the second day. Traffic started about 7am, stopped about an hour later, started again about noon.

90% of the traffic is similar to the below:

"Night Rider, Night Rider, this is Flapjack over. Night Rider, we have status Delta on Yankee zero-eight."

anyone know what I may be hearing?

Where are you located? At one time, that frequency was used by the FBI in Houston, TX.

I think I found a list somewhere that had it listed as BATF. I know almost fed. agency could possibly use it or any other freq. it could very well be FBI or DEA. this is the first I have heard this freq being used.

I have in the last few weeks heard more frequent aircraft traffic on fed freqs. I've heard DEA helos, National Guard late at night (forget the names they were using which was the night before I heard any traffic on this freq) and local law enforcement doing under cover drug deals.

yesterday I heard "Flapjack" state they lost GPS but regained it.

I'm hearing this in Berkeley Co. WV, in the Eastern Panhandle which is between VA and MD. I do hear some traffic as far as Baltimore and DC, but this is VERY clear and a very strong signal.

If you go to the Fed Freq thread under the WV forum, I have audio from yesterday posted. I didn't post the audio here since it was on the other thread.

Mike, 168.35 is a freq that isn't assigned to any particular agency, just the govt in general, so yeah it could be anyone. I haven't heard anything on it yet in my area.

I've got plenty of DES activity on that freq here in Oklahoma City (as well as 168.275, which is very close).

That frequency is one of two VHF nationwide federal government itinerent frequencies. My Forest Service radios started coming with that and 163.100 programmed into them in the mid 1980's. Tracking down that transmission to an agency is really going to be tough.

thanks for everyones help and input.

I wasn't necessarily trying to ID it based solely on the freq but also with the content of the transmissions. I was hoping that maybe someone would read what I posted and maybe have an idea of what was going on.

I heard more yesterday as well. nothing today though.
