The manual states 2300 MaH Ni-MH 2300 MaH batteries can be used. AA batteries are 1.2 volts. What brand do you guys use?
Can the new 1.5 volt be used, I am not sure if they are Ni-MH 2300 MaH

If by new 1.5V you mean something like this...
They cannot be charged in the usuall charger for AA NiMh batterys...
You have to use the charger that comes with them...

I believe because that's what Uniden ships with the units.

I use Ladda from Ikea in my 436 and have been doing so for a few years now. 7 bucks for a 4 pack.

Actually, AA batteries are 1.5 volts (alkaline) and most rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride AA are 1.2 volts. I think the only rechargeable 1.5 volts on the market are lithium polymer batteries.

Dave...
Those holding up pretty good for you... As in not loosing alot of capacity as they age...
Might have to give them a try when I need some new NiMh batts...

The article says they are size: 14500 and can only be charged with the charger they come with. My Opus C3100 says it will charge them (lithium 14500).

A 14500 standard Lithium (3.7V nominal) sure it will...
Those batts I posted have a buck conveter chip in them to drop the voltage to 1.5...
So the Opus will not charge them...

You could damage the chip by doing that...

I am happy with the Nickel Metal Hydrides and I don't think I will be buying those 1.5 lithium. I don't know much about lit ion but wonder if the charger would see it as 1.5 or 3.7v. Something has to tell the charger what its charging.

Either way, I want a basic batt without chips and stuff. Look at LED house bulbs. Lasts 30000 hours in bold letters on the package. YEAH RIGHT. While the led it self may last for thousands of hours, the cheap chips and resisters inside fail. I had about 3 different branded led lights fail this month alone.

If it thinks it's a 1.5V can't very well charge a 3.7V lithium which is usually 4.2 volts when charging...
I have no use for those batt's either...
In LED light bulbs the led chips usually are wired in series... Loose one chip and the bulb is done...
Just like the old Xmas tree lights... Of course you could find the bad bulb and replace it...
Can't do that with the new LED house bulbs...

Nope. There are sets of 3 LEDs in series, but eash set of 3 is wired in parallel. If one LED goes bad, it only takes 2 others with it.

They did some changes to them then from the older original ones...
So you end up with a dimmer light bulb then...

I use the LADDA 2450 and Energizer 2400 min are very good in my 325P2 H/H scanner and I charge them in my Opus 3100 in four and half hours, I made a mistake once and left them in over night and two of the Energizer swelled up and would not fit in the radio , I call that stupid lol

4.5 hours? Your do a discharge refresh every time?

There may have been something wrong with those 2 batts because I believe the Opus will trickle charge when a batt is full. I have left many batts in overnight and never had swelling.

I looked at something like this at one time and is not suitable for us. The mah rating is 756! For a 325P2 that is like an hour run time!

Promaster makes a 2700 mah battery which I've been happy with. A battery with less than 2300 mah will work. Just know that the runtime of the scanner will be less.

The 1.5 volt rechargable batteries are lithium. I would charged them with a charger specific to that type, not in the scanner, I would leave the setting in the scanner on NI-MH. My question is will the scanner be in danger if I use the lithium? I dont want to cook anything in the scanner the first time I turn it on.
