Too bad we don't or can't use D Cells in our handheld radios. 11,500 mAh sounds very useful. Now if Uniden would make the SDS-100 so one of these D cells would work in it I may get interested in buying this scanner.

Thanks for passing this info on. I don't really have a situation where I want a rechargeable D cell, but I'm sure going to think about it.

I use the D NiMH cells in a LED lantern I use as a bedside reading light.

I use AA batteries in C and D cell spacer/adapters. There are adapters that can hold one, two, or three AA batteries for the D cell. While not the same capacity as a D cell, it works well enough for my needs like a lantern for several days of camping.

Perhaps it's just me but I charge the batteries in the 436HP itself. Never had a problem and I use a power bank to do it. That way I can take it with me if the batteries are low either that or plug them unto the USB port in the car. I don't want to have to poddle around taking the batteries out of the thing all the time. Hey whatever works for you guys.

I get about 6 or more months out of the batteries so I think that's good. My old 250D twins were great but you had to buy special packs for them and they crapped out after 6 months. At least with this one, I can go buy any rechargeable's for a lot less money and certainly less hassle.

I also have C and D cell adapters, they work well too.
