The sds100 died before midnight last night so I put it on the plug.

turned Red while it was charging and now I wake up 9 hours later and the light is off.

it’s been turning green all week now it’s just out while charging.

Any ideas?

It’s working but I have no idea if it’s fully charged. I can’t get any kind of battery icon on the screen. I appreciate the welcome.

What month is it?
Is it on while charging?

If you get the low voltage error while it is charging and powered on, it resets the setting and you have to go back in and set it back to charge while on.

No error. Just no green light when it was fully charged. Red while charging and nothing when charged.

If he's using the charger and cable that came with the scanner, You shouldn't see the low voltage error...
If charging and running the scanner at the same time, It may have gotten to hot and the internal charger shutdown...
I had that happen once...

Ok why would it get too hot? Is it a broken scanner or is this normal?

That scanner has a waterproof case, it dooesn't breath very well...
If I charge the batt in the scanner, I usually don't have the scanner running...

I also have two batt's and use the seperate external bettery charger most of the time...
Like I said. I only had that happen once too me...

Just taking a guess here as to why it might of happened...
The scanner does have built in thermal protection...

Being the scanner uses an SDR (Software Defined Radio) in it, They do run a bit warm anyway, without charging the batt at the same time...

I can’t get any kind of battery icon on the screen.
Go to Sentinel's Edit/Edit Display and look at the bottom of the display mode you are using and the fields that are as wide as half the display. There you can set an empty field to show Battery Voltage. Or perhaps you already have that and it only show dashes?

I have left my scanner on in a hot car and returned a few hours later to see that the charging light would not illuminate. I assumed the scanner was overheated. All was fine after I held it in front of the air conditioner vent to cool it down.
