BC 895XLT Software

I have a BC895xlt and have been trying to hook it up to the computer. I made a serial port cable like shown here http://www.bc895xlt.com/ I have checked it many times it is exactly like it is supposed to be. then load ,e scanner ,scan control , or radio control. and nether program will connect to the scanner? I also pushed the button rmt on the scanner nothing.? Am I missing something any help would be great thanks William.

You must push the 'rmt' key before bringing the software online. At least in Scan Control's case (the best out of the ones you mentioned) it will search all your available ports, and all speed combinations, in order to make the connection. It should make a connection at 9600 baud, which is as fast as the 895's port will go

You can do this another way - at least in Scan Control's case. If you've brought up the software before hitting 'rmt', then use the 'Connect to radio' button on the main panel. It will then go searching for the connection.

Before you do that, have you set up the 895's port? I'm at my office at the moment, and don't have a manual handy, but I believe there's a fairly simple setup you need to do first. Also insure that nothing else is using that port.

I got it working. had a bent prong on my computer and wasn't making contact... hmm go figure
