Is there a way to disable the low battery alert beep on the BC246? I didn't see it mentioned in the manual. My radio continues to operate for a couple of hours after the beep first sounds.
There is no way to disable to battery low warning that I can find. Doing so could cause you to drain the battery to the point of damage if it were possible. You can send the command BAV to the radio using Hyperterminal to read the battery voltage. The conversion formula is in the protocol file.
Does the '246 have a circuit to shut it off when the voltage has dropped to a predetermined level? This would prevent the batteries from draining down completely.
Most new scanners have a point at which it will cut off before the battery is fully drained. He just wants to know if there is a way to cut off the battery alert telling you that your batteries are low.
