I needed some help with programming my 246T scanner. I have looked through the instruction book, and not being all that savy with scanners, this being only my second one, I am having some trouble with programming. I have read that you can use the computer to program but can not seem to find the program online for doing this. Also, how would you go about doing it manually. Any info anyone could give would be a great help.

Thanks

Our 246 wiki article has all the links you need - including the 'Easier to Read' manual (in the related pages section).

Before you go down this route, since I see you live in Maryland, what area(s) are you trying to program? Calvert county is easy, and with a better antenna you should be able to hear some flights from Patuxent River (although much of the good stuff is on UHF milair which the 246 cannot hear).

Thanks for the response. I have programmed Calvert and St. Marys into the scanner, along with what Charles County I might be able to get since they just started going digital. I really do appreciate everyones help with the matter. I have become a paid member and long the fact that freescan will automatically label everything in the scanner for me once I pick out what I want programmed.

I do remember 10 years ago sitting in front of the old frequency scanners and programming every channel that you wanted to hear. Now look at us, hook it up to the computer and within 10 minutes your scanner has every channel or just about every channel you every wanted and you can start listening right away.

You can still do it the old fashioned way! In fact, it can be a lot harder with the alphatags and menus and PL's and channel options and...
