Hello fellow Georgians! I hope someone out there has knowledge of trouble shooting the BC246T Scanner.
I cleared out all the "stuff" that was on the radio due to problems. I have the new data bases installed. However when a channel is activated the chat is interrupted for just a second at a time. Very annoying! Missing bits and pieces of the transmission. Anyone know what I need to go into and click on or off? Also the on-off tone isn't activated. Thanks for any help!

There's a lot of great and knowledgeable people here on the Georgia forum but you would be much better served on getting answers to your questions on the Uniden forum under scanner makes above.

In the meanwhile here's the User Manual for this unit in case you don't have one:

It's generally accepted that Uniden's manuals aren't very good - there is an Easier to Read version which is much better...and I gave a likely answer to the OT's question...73 Mike

Sorry Bro. Didn't mean to imply that your answer wasn't the best. I replied before seeing yours. Just thought I'd get him pointed in the right direction and to the right forum. I bow in deference.

Best regards and thanks for all of your help, Mike.

Many thanks to everyone! I am a novist at this stuff and trying to learn. One thing I know I must learn is the proper settings like mike was kind enough to share. I'll give it a try and let you know. So that I'm sure I correctly understand, I check the "close out do not disturb box"?
Thanks again to everyone.
P.S. Anyone out there a veteran or active American Warrior who has served downrange?

Scanners

Hey Dustman - I remember my "novice" days learning how to operate scanners. Only difference? Mine were crystal scanners. These new dynamic-memory scanners are much more complicated.Feel free to PM me if you want to meet for coffee and we'll talk scanners and I'll try to help you with learning all about your 246XT

Many thanks to all for your support. MIKE, you were right. Thx for sending the wiki page. It was the CC deal.
Next item up for bids, How do I find the frequancies for local med-flight and GSP?
Everyone have a great weekend.

Frequencies

Dustman - glad you figured out the CC issue. As for med-flights, they typically operate mostly on the frequency or TRS talkgroup of the agency they've been summoned to assist. For example, if they operate with Roswell Fire, you'll hear the RFD Incident Commander talk to med helo on the RFD Tac channel they're using.

As for GSP, they use the Atlanta DTRS system for patrolling the metro expressways, for which they are the primary enforcement agency. Outside Atlanta, they use their age-old VHF simplex system - dispatchers talk on 154.680 and cars answer on 154.800, both CSQ (no PL code).

Yell if you need more help
