something to check

% Memory Used: This setting lets you view the amount of memory left in the scanner.
Press Menu.
Scroll to 'See Scanner Info' and press E/Yes.
Scroll to '% Memory Used' and press E/Yes.
Press Scan to exit

and that is from
Easier to Read BC246T Scanner Manual

Memory Full?

I have run into this before. What I found was happening is that FreeSCAN did not detect the correct scanner that was being programmed. Such as when I added/modified programming for one model, then connected a different scanner (different model), and tried to send programming to it.

With the scanner you are trying to program connected, follow these steps:
Try clicking on Scanner
Then select Control Scanner from the drop down menu
That brings up a menu box labeled Virtual Control
On the Virtual Control pop-up, select COM Port Settings
That brings up the port setting page
In the lower portion of that pop-up, is the AUtodetection
Click on Start Auto

FreeSCAN should find both the correct port, as well as recognize which model scanner is connected. Doing these steps worked for me to clear the invalid 'memory full' message, when I knew, positively, that the message was wrong.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the radio comes pre-programmed in certain SQKs with frequencies meant to be used during a demo, but are now WAY out of date. So if Steve's outline doesn't solve it, wipe the scanner and reprogram. On the FreeScan upload form, there's a selection for wiping the scanner, including the pre-programmed SQKs. It's in red - you can hardly miss it.

I've also seen where folks were constantly ADDing when they should REPLACE instead. Do too many adds of the same information over and over again, and eventually you'll hit a memory wall, particularly with the very old DMA driven models

I've added this data to our FreeScan FAQ. That's useful information... Thanks Mike
