I'm new to scanning and new to forums, so pls excuse me if I violate any rules of ettiqute (let me know what I did wrong). I just bought a new BC246T and I can't find any programming software that specifically mentions this model. Since it has a brand new memory config, I doubt if any existing software would work. Does anyone know of anything avail? :?:

The Butel software referred to above isn't available yet. Uniden has a free demo download available here:

It will work in demo mode with some restrictions, or you can purchase a key. A lot of people complain about it, but I myself haven't had any problems.

I'm glad somebody was able to figure it out. I fought with UASD for two hours, gave up, then prepurchased ARC246. I was a two-way tech for 11 years, and I've used a lot of programming software. This is by far the worst I've ever seen.

Sure, I'd like to have my new 246 working now, but I can wait. It's in my best interest as a consumer to wait. If we reward Uniden for giving us garbage, and purchase a registration key, we will only encourage them to continue to produce garbage like UASD.

That's probably a bit too harsh. The Uniden program doesn't have the best user interface but it does work and I haven't had it crash. It is worth at least getting it to run in demo mode so you can program four systems. If you have specific questions on how to get it going, you should be able to get help right here.

I have the uniden software it is great. I have had no problems a little confusing at first but really easy to use. I like some of the features better than Win95 just wish I could take and mix and match the features. Overall its a great piece of software did not think much of it until purchased the key and unlocked all the great features.

legacyman,

I am a newbie myself. I downloaded the free software from Uniden. It worked for me great. I think I may buy the key now.

The toughest part is understanding how the 246 organizes frequencies. But the software makes it easy to play with and see.

I would install it and after you connect make sure you save all your original data and config files some place for backup in case something goes wrong.
