I am looking for any assistance in locating a programming cable for my Uniden BP250 digital handheld scanners. I know they are old scanners, but the work better in my situation than my SDS150 or SDS100. I can not for the life of me, my old programming cable and if I order a new cable from either Amazon or Ebay, the ads claim they work for the BP250, but the connector is way too large. Uniden used a proprietary 4 pin mini connector that even Uniden Tech Support has no idea of it.

So what I'm looking for is someone that has one that is willing to sell it or anyone knowing any actual real information about this mysterious Uniden proprietary 4 pin mini plug connector.

I'm 66 years old, I've had a storke and since then, learning new things is a major challenge that never works out. So learning how x to even use, let along how to program these new SDS150 scanners is out of the question. I just want to use my old BP250 scanners again. Thank you in advance to anyone that can assist me.

Hi, I looked up the BC250 scanner on eBay and there are several people selling new cables between $30-40 dollars brand new. Enjoy your scanner

Look for Hirose (
HR10A-7P-4S
(female) connector for serial GPS input, often requiring specific wiring to the scanner's serial/GPS port. These connectors are push-pull locking, often used for power or data, with common alternatives including 4-pin Mitsumi connectors for certain GPS applications.

Key Details regarding Hirose connectors for Uniden scanners:

Thank you for looking into it, but I have ordered 5 of them, 3 from ebay and two from Amazon. They say they will work with the Uniden BP250, but they don't, they have a mini USB connector rather than the Unidan proprietary type connector.

I know there has to be someone out there that has figured this out before. Thank you again.

The BP250 is the battery for the BC250D scanner. You need to be very careful about the cable you order. For instance, this one on Amazon says it is for the BC250D. BC296D, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD396XT, and BCD996XT. The BC250D and BC296D have a different connector than the BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD396XT, and BCD996XT. If I remember correctly, this cable will not work for your scanner: Amazon.com I have a cable for the BC296D, and it does not work with the other scanners.

You are correct, the cables that Amazon and other on-line shop advertise DO NOT WORK on the Uniden BP250D, even though it says it does. In digging down this rabbit hole, I have found that Uniden used a proprietary 4 pin plug that they discontinued using and supporting in 2009. It is so sad, because I have two of these scanners equipped with the APCO P25 Cards and they work so good. I actually understand how to use that scanner better than my SDS150.

From reading posts on that radio, seems BC250D, BC296D & UBC3300XLT used the same cable. The pic you posted looks like a Hirose connector. The original cable was the 4 pin (likely Hirose) on one end and Db-9 serial on the other.

The connector of the BCD296D cable that I have approaches being a square shape compared to the rectangular shape of the Hirose connectors on the other Uniden scanners. I Inherited the cable many years ago after programming a BC296D for our news department.

I have 2 of the Uniden Factory USB cables for the OLD BCT15 Scanners that has the correct end to fit the 250D?

The BCT15 uses a different connector and cable that isn't the correct one.

It's hard to get the correct for his scanner, since they were made over 20 years ago.

If older literature and or forum posts are correct, and the BC250D, BC296D & UBC3300XLT used the same cable, then expand the search to include those models.
