Hi all,
I have a BC 250D that I had programmed to a APCO 25 project when I was in Calgary. Now that I have returned home to Saskatchewan I have reprogrammed the scanner to the 7 EDACS Fleetnet systems we have in the province. I am now having problems hearing the audio when I scan these Edacs systems. The ID turns up on the scanner but I can only hear the Audio for about 3 seconds before it mutes. I then can hear audio again for the next 3 secs when it moves to the next LCN. When it stops on a conventional channel I can hear audio as long as the transmission. Anybody have any sugestions or heard of this happening before? Any information would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks.

I have narrowed the problem down to the Digital Card. Has anyone had the above problem with their APCO Card? My scanner works fine on the EDACS Channels when I disable the card or remove it from the Scanner.

Hi,
Is Data Skip activated in the banks?
Not sure if this would have anything to do with it...just a guess.

I am in the south east corner, east of Estevan. I reset the scanner and manually re-entered the data into the scanner and all is well. :D I have no idea as to why this would happen. It makes me concerned as I don't want to have to go through this entire process everytime I go somewhere with my scanner. Any additional input or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Well I have no idea why the 250D would do that, but what I can suggest is getting ARC250D for it.

This way you can make different profiles for different areas you travel. Then all you have to do is upload the profiles to your scanner when needed. Doing it this way will only take seconds, rather than hours.

I don't know what I would do if I lost all the info in my 246T, and knew I would have to "hand bomb" the info back in. I think I would start crying.

Well maybe I wouldn't go that far, but it would be damn close.

PC programming is the way to go man.

Regards,
Richster.

Glad to hear you solved the problem, although not happy a total scanner reset was required. Somewhere in the programming sequence you have to set the trunked system type to EDACS, on a per bank basis. I wonder if the bank setting wasn't changed, and the scanner was trying to scan the EDACS system as a Motorola system, possibly because of the digital card? If it happens again I would check the Trunked System Type setting. Even if you have changed it, perhaps it's changing back on you?

I'll admit it's a wild guess, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Thanks for the Reply Rob. Do you use any software for controlling and programming your scanners? If so what are you using? I am thinking of getting ARC250 as mentioned in the above post but don't know much about it. I would like a relyable, well tested product that doesn't have a bunch of bugs in the program. Any input would greatly aid my decison process. Also wondering if you have been monitoring 07-130 on the fleetnet system. Are they filming a movie in Regina or something. Just curious. Talk to you later.

ARC250 is a very good program. It is well recommended by almost everyone that uses it. I would go with ARC250.

I'll have to check that talkgroup. Yes, I often hear movie productions on the Fleetnet system. Usually it's the transportation people, moving personnel and equipment back and forth, and getting food and drinks to the set. They must use other radio communications for on set work. It would be nice to hear stuff like "Cut!" and "Action!", but alas I never hear that sort of thing on the Fleetnet.
