If you programmed in the TGID's it should ID SCAN. If it is ID SEARCH press and hold trunk until it says ready to ID SCAN. ( caps reflect what would be seen on the screen no yelling intended.

You need to be in ID SCAN mode for the scanner to pay attention to the TGID's you've entered. If the display shows ID SEARCH while scanning, press SEARCH to switch it to ID SCAN.

First, are you monitoring a digital trunked system?

Second, post the way you have it programed.

Example.******************************

Bank one.

[Channel 1] 866.998.......Control channel
[Channel 2] 866.777.......System frequency
[Channel 3] 867.676.......System frequency

Talk Groups

2222 -Fire A
1876 -Fire B
2020 -Fire C

------------------------------------------------------
Bank two.

[Channel 1] 865.767.......Control channel
[Channel 2] 866.112 .......System frequency
[Channel 3] 865.555.......System frequency

Talk Groups

3333- Police A
2455- Police B
7655- Police C

Bank three.

[Channel 1] 866.055.......Control channel
[Channel 2] 865.888.......System frequency
[Channel 3] 865.123 .......System frequency

Talk Groups

6570- State police A
4322- State police B
5432- State police B

Now if its programmed in this manner, while scanning press the decimal and it will switch between talk groups lists or your banks. Then select either the number for the talk group list to listen to or the number bank to listen to.

Example. ***************************

1234567890. This is the banks section.

1234567890. This is the talk group lists section.

So if it's in the talk group selection you will have 1-10, each number represents a talk group list. 1 could be your police, 2 could be fire and so fourth. This is how each bank is programmed.

Or you can program just one bank with the ten talk group lists in that bank. For example 1= All fire, 2= All police, 3= All of State police.

Make sure you remember this. Program control channels, program system channels. Then enter talk groups.

It's kinda hard to write how to do it. So you will have to read your manual and what is written here very carefully.

You do know each bank number and talk group list number can be turned on or off by pressing it once for on or once for off, right?

Somewhere in this room. Right now, you're very col
Sigh....

He's trying to scan specific ID LISTS....

Per page 25 of the manual:
Press REVERSE until the scanner
displays “List” at the left side of line 3 in the display when it
has not stopped on a talkgroup or on the left side of line 4 if it
has stopped on a talkgroup. Then, press the number
corresponding to the ID list you want to turn on or off.

Whats that spoused to mean?

That manual is written awkward. You have to jump from one damn thing to the next just to find out what you want. All the while the digital sits there laughing it's ass off.

But I have to admit, I never had to use the manual that much. Just for reference.

When I first got my BC296d in the mail I just pressed menu and away I was.
