According to the manual I need to download a driver to this scanner in order to work. It is for windows download and I have a mac. Is there an alternative download?

Downloading the driver is only required for programming the scanner by computer. That scanner is very easy to program by hand. The manual will give you instructions on how to do it. I have the BC125AT which is basically the same scanner with alpha tags and i had over 300 frequencies programmed into it in approximately an hour. Read the manual.
