BC780XLT LCD Problem

I Hope I am Posting in the correct Place.

I got a BC780XLT and the LCD screen is gone, the radio works fine except you can't can't see what it is doing, Oh, and the light works too. Can I get a replacement LCD Screen or is it better to Buy a whole new radio altogeather?

The Radio is an Un-Tapped Un-Opened, Un-Modified unit. Origionally purchased about 4 years ago. Would Uniden Honor any warrenty, and would the warrenty even apply today?

Warranty is for 12 months from point of purchase. The repair through Uniden would cost @ 50.00, so cost wise repair would be cheapest.

You might consider a computer control program for the 780. The video display would eliminate the need for having it repaired. Just an idea.

The radio's mounted in a Console, the laptop has too many programs running already. My Guess is the Sun has played a role in whiping out the LCD. So repair or a new radio are the only two logical choices. I havn't the need to replace it with a 785 or 796D so if uniden is only asking $50.00 give or take to fix it. then that may be the solution. Thank you everyone for the Help.
