If you want it to only respond on the pl code you want you will need to close the bank.

I know on the pr series of scanners it works that way. Small amount of experiance with the BC and in most cases it is the same way. Hit that owners manual to see how to run a bank in closed mode.

Ignore the above post, there is no such thing as a closed bank in the Uniden lines and in any case that would be about trunked systems...

This is true.

This is not accurate. "CLOSED" bank operation on GRE scanners, which have CTCSS or DCS capability, will keep you from hearing transmission without the proper tone/code while scanning. The Pro-96 will also do so while sitting on a frequency in CT or DC mode.

On my 780, which I expect is similiar to the 785, you set the Squelch Mode in the menu. There are three different modes, Carrier SQ (default), Tone SQ, and Tone Search. Tone SQ mode: "The scanner will stop on any active frequency for which either no sub-audible tone has been programmed or for which the user-programmed sub-audible tone is also active."

I don't use Tone Search, as it is so-o-o-o slow.

This is exactly correct.
Go to Menu -> 3:System Option -> 8: SW Mode -> Tone SQ.

This will set the scanner to only open squelch on the tone.
