I Have a BC796 scanner with the antenna that it came with. I have noticed that reception is cut down as long as I have my LCD monitor & computer on. The scanner is located appx. 9 ft away from the computer & monitor. It seems most of the reception is cut down more on the vhf low band frequencies. Is there a filter that will eliminate the problem or something else I should consider using? Neighborhood regulations prohibit outside antennas except for small satellite tv antennas.

I have three Uniden bases/mobile scanner on the shelf just above the mini-mac computer and a plasme flat screeen monitor. They are flawless and performs very well.

Can you move the scanner further away from the computer / monitor? Computers really seem to crank out RF interference. My BC246T can hardly stand to be in the same room as my laptop. And when the internet router is turned on, I have to go several rooms away to have clear reception.

You could try putting a small discone antenna in the attic or a magnet-mount antenna somewhere. Or a BNC-type whip antenna on a right-angle BNC connector on the back of your 796.

There's the attenuator button to try on the scanner.

As far as filters go, I'm not sure what would help you.

Only other option is throwing the computer out. :D

Thanks for the info. I'll try some of your suggestions. I forgot to mention that I did have a wireless router on the computer. That could be the main source of the problem. I'll experiment with some of your suggestions except for throwing the computer out. :)
