I have the BC796D Uniden scanner and I'm trying to program with The Arc 250 Basic program and I can't find the control channels I need. I've had the scanner since 2003 brand new and haven't programmed it since I got it when trunking wasn't as big a deal around here. I have data in the trunk Bank but the trunk info doesn't seem to take when I send the information to the scanner and I don't understand why. I'm able to populate the bank lists and upload the conventional information but I'm still confused. I get close but not close enough. I have found the trunk ID numbers but not the associated frequencies. Any help would be appreciated.

Seattle, WA (and surrounding cities), King/Snohomish counties, Motorola type 2 and P25, PD, Fire Seattle, Eastside, North. I'm right in the middle.

The bad news is that the PSERN P25 system is Phase 2 which the BC796D cannot decode.

Which Motorola Type 2 system do you want to scan? If you see 851, 852, or 853 MHz frequencies, you may need to setup a custom rebanded 800 MHz band plan for the site.

Well I didn't know about the type of Motorola system that they have as nothing seems to show that information, that I'm finding. My setup is mostly the same except for the control channels. I can find listings of the ID numbers but nothing with control and data frequencies. I haven't rebanded the unit yet as I didn't expect needing to. Probably should do that soon. If I can't listen to Seattle, I would just like to listen to other agencies in the area like Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Mercer Island, agencies in Snohomish county, and anything else I can pull in. Right now I pretty much only get too frequencies which are for agencies way up north in Marysville, Everett, quite a bit north of me.

What version firmware do you have in your scanner? Press and hold 2, 4, and 9 while turning on the scanner. You need version 3.60 for Motorola Type 2 custom 800MHz rebanded band plan.

Well I have no idea how to upgrade my system, everything I find, which is three downloads, one from Uniden BCi96D APCO card update program, downloads but doesn't go any farther than that, nothing to unzip or install and then the two from radio reference, there's no action either for the bc_vup 2.0.0.7 or the BC 796d_v3_60.scn. is there somewhere else I need to go to be able to do this or have I passed the availability of upgrade information?

I don't have that scanner model, but see if this Uniden pages helps:

The BCi96D APCO card update is needed only if your scanner frequently shows CARD ERROR. That was a fix for the problem. The bc_vup 2.0.0.7 firmware updater and the BC 796d_v3_60.scn firmware file are all you need to update your scanner for rebanding. You run the firmware updater and open the 3.60 firmware file. Once you do that, the updater will give you the instructions how to proceed with the update.

No I didn't see your reply I've downloaded those two and tried them. I'll have to see if there's something I've missed since they didn't seem to do anything for me either but I will look again.

the good news is that is a sensitive scanner, mine picks up what new units does not (weak signal) wise
if you cant hear the control channel from your location , you need to know which one you can hear , put fx in any location 1-1000 and see if you get control channel noise, if so you will be able to program with ARC , which I use

Well I'm actually going to pick up a brand new SDS200 as I think it's time for an upgrade. Thanks everyone for their help! I'll be gathering up all the stuff for the BC796D and selling.
