I am looking to buy eathier the bc898t or bc370crs scanner. I am looking for the most reliable unit and the unit that has the best reception and that will pick up farther. No trunking in my area.
The 370 has SAME and EAS alert system, general coverage, service search, AM/FM/TV broadcast, and an atomic (WWV-B) controled alarm clock. It makes a great bedside radio with great reception, but the 898 is a better model as a base station scanner with, full computer control, CTCSS/DCS options, and Mil-Air reception.
I know you're not worried about trunking.....I still would go with the 898T anyway it does support re banding...AND it's a TRIPLE trunking scanner in case you need it , and of course what the previous poster states above.
I have an 898 and they are a NICE scanner. I like the large form factor and it seems to be a very sensitive and selective radio. Has great sounding audio as well.
No experience with the 370 so can't comment about it.
