Hi,
I am new trunking and am really confused. I am trying to program Edacs standard Police for Auburn NY.
I used scan control but something isnt right. There are about 8 different frequencies for Auburn so I put them all in bank 2. I programmed the two police AFS (02-105 and 02-106) as ids.
Some of the frequecies have constant noise so I locked them out via scanner. When I press the trunk button on the scanner I never receive anything however I can pick up transmissions when the trunk function button isn't on but it isn't from the id's I programmed.
Thanks in advance.

You never want to lock out a frequency that has noise on it. You might be locking out a control channel. I'd wipe the bank (and trunk ID list), and program in all the frequencies, regardless of whether they have a 'noise' on them or not. Then let the 898 do an ID Search on everything - it's not what you want, but it does verify that your programming is correct. Once you have verified your programming, inputting the IDs you want is a trivial matter.

My apologies for hijacking this post, but I have an issue right now with EDACS programming on the BC898T also that I just can't solve. Hope folks don't mind me asking for some help on this thread.

On the BC898T, I hear a series of 4-5 beeps after each call on the Manchester NH EDACS system (with a verified correct LCN). I followed the manual and even used 2 different software programs and I still can't get rid of the beeps?

On my Pro-2096 with the same exact LCN, I do not hear these same beeps. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I may be missing on the BC898T programming?

Thanks very much!

I'm no edacs pro, I only hear it during my stays in OC, Maryland.
Even when programmed right I sometimes hear the beeps.
There is a gent that posts here occassionally that is the tech working OC's system that may provide some valuable input, I'm not sure if he monitors this thread or just Maryland.
I think is id is something like EDACStreach

Also, you might wanna start your own thread rather than hi-jack, that way both issues will be visible to those viewing and helping.

Thanks for the advice on using search. I found what i was looking for using that method.
It's hard to get use to the buttons doing multiple tasks as my old scanner was a bc360.
I am guessing that even though I programmed 8 freqs into one bank and called them trunk they can all pull from one list for the talk groups. I am also guessing that pressing the data key during scanning shows me what lists are being scanned, but in my case with only two talk groups or ids I only need to populate and scan 1 list.
I am finding hours of quietness when I know there should be some action. Do the agencies that use edacs change control frequencies many times a day or is it pretty much constant thing.
Also I noticed that when scanning I get a signal strength indication for every scanned cycle is that because it found the control channel??
Thanks
Again

EDACS system MUST be programmed in LCN order starting with the first channel in the bank. That system is EDACS Wide.
Once you have successfully programmed the system, then do the talkgroups.
I would bet that you are missing a step in the system programming. Follow the manual and do it by hand.
