I live in Hanford, California and am trying to input trunking systems in my scanner. The closest ones are Avenal State Prison and Corcoran State Prison. Every time I download from Radio Reference the down load seems to go in correctly but when listening to the scanner nothing happens. Please help to see if I am doing something wrong.

thank you

first of all install the drivers for your cable, then check the com ports to see if they match up

He said it goes in correctly so I don't think your answer has anything to do with the problem.

Andy, how far are you from these two systems and do you have any talkgroups loaded for them?

He answered it in his first post and as far as "poking my nose in" goes, I'm trying to help the guy. And there's no need to get upset because I corrected you twice now ;)

Andy, it really depends on a lot of different things as to how far your scanner can reach. Its very possible that a decent outside antenna could get the job done.

I have a scantenna at 40 feet. I was just wondering if I was setting the system up wrong. Sorry if I am
pleading ignorance but I just need some help.
