I am having an issue on My 996xt with the Carver/Scott site 104.... I have everything I want to listen to programmed in for that site.. Now when Im scanning in Id or scan search mode the screen goes blank when it stops on a talkgroup that is already programmed in. Also at times it will bring up a programmed in talkgroup which I have the descriptor programmed in for but it only shows the talkgroup and not the descriptor.. I know this sounds confusing. Oh yeah and it only happens on this site. All the others are working fine...

If the display is blank when receiving a programmed TG, it means your TG Tag is blank for that channel (TG). Not sure what you are talking about with the 'descriptor'.

Descriptor tag name for the TGID... When I go into the system for site 104 and manually scroll through it it will display the name of each talkgroup but when I put it into scan mode and it stops on a transmission it is not showing the name...

So if you have TGID 54 programmed with "MSP 2500 DISP" does it show up as "MSP 2500 DISP" on Hennepin East or Minneapolis City Center, but blank on Carver/Sott?

If that's the case, something might be funky with the system - not your scanner. Just to be safe, however, I'd confirm your scanner's programming for Carver/Sott is the same (general settings) as the other sites.

Maybe there is a duplicate System in your scanner that is not tagged?

Correct.. The talkgroup comes up in all the other banks but not on the carver/scott and I do have it programmed in with the tag.. Went through and checked the system and find no duplicate. Did find a couple freqs in the edit band plan field which didn't belong there so I deleted those but the problem still is there... Think I will delete the whole system and re program it.

Depending on how much of the system you have programmed, dumping it and starting from square 1 may be a chore.

I'd be first tempted to delete just the problematic site and re-add it. If that didn't resolve the issue, then re-programming the system would be my next thought.

This morning I tried dumping just the system and re adding still got same results... Will go ahead with deleting all of it.. Fingers will get an exercise re programming it all by hand.

Programming a system as elaborate as the ARMER system by hand is a big of a chore as you will find. Lots of sites and talkgroups, even for just the Metro area.

Getting a program, such as FreeScan or ARC XT, will make life much easier.

Also becoming a premium subscriber will allow you to use such a program to download the needed data. Not only will it save time and fingers, it also significantly reduces the opportunities for data entry error. I'd be very frustrated if I spent 30 minutes handprogramming and the last thing I did was wrong, wiping out that 30 minutes of hard work.
