Where do you enter a PL for a channel? I am getting bleed over from another channel on our channel. Any help would be great. The frequency I am having a problem with is 453.33750 Thank You
Roger, it’s also good to know there are a finite number of frequencies available. Your frequency is used by others… the FCC (or a certified outside group) coordinates the use of these frequencies. They used to, or still are, spacing them a distance away from each other-it was a 70 mile radius as a rule of thumb before they allowed some other agency the use of the same frequency. Agencies using the same frequency 70 or better miles apart may still be heard, although weak, heard non the less. It is bothersome. That’s where PL’s came into use… a sub-audible tone or mix of tones would be transmitted along with the audio transmission. And only those radios listening to the same PL tones would open up their receiver and hear the audio. FDNY could be heard in central Ct on their VHF frequencies which are also assigned to Ct FD’s. But no one bothered the other because all were assigned differing PL’s.

Here is the procedure to enter the PL tone: Press MENU > Scroll to Program System > Press E > Scroll to the system > Press E > Scroll to Edit Group > Press E > Scroll to the group > Press E > Scroll to Edit Channel > Press E > Scroll to the channel > Press E > Scroll to Set Audio Type > Press E > Scroll to Analog Only > Press E > Scroll to CTCSS > Press E > Select the PL tone > Press E ---- Press SCAN/SEARCH to exit menus.
Thank you

The only thing I would do differently with those instructions, which are spot on, is pressing the Function knob instead of E.
By scrolling to the desired location in that scanner, you're using the Function button anyway, meaning your hand is on it already.

Pressing E/Yes button or the Function knob will give you the same results.
