BCD160DN/BCD260DN: BCD160DN Upgrade Suggestion

The BCD160DN display shows when P25 transmissions are picked up, but does not complete the transmission with the audible information. Is the BCD160DN capable of a firmware update that would include a purchase option for a P25 application key?

I agree! The BCD160DN was designed to receive DMR and NXDN, but not P25. There is no firmware update for P25. Also, it is for conventional frequencies only. It cannot trunk track DMR or NXDN trunked systems.

At this time the upgrade would be either the BCD 325 P2, or BCD 436 if you do not have simulcast in your area, or the SDS 100 if you do have simulcast and want to be able to receive it properly. Also there's talk of a new SDS 150 but no published release date. Those are your options if you want to stay in the hand held realm. If you need DMR, that's a paid upgrade on all of those but they do P-25 out of the box.
