DISAPPOINTED Took delivery of the new BCD 325 two weeks after buying an.amplified speaker for the 396 trunk tracker IV which made for listening in my car extremely well. Now hooked up the speaker to the trunk tracker five and the volume is not the same anymore due to the radio restriction on the earphone jack. Called Uniden and they said unfortunately there amplified speaker will not increase the volume to the new BCD 325. Again something I am unhappy about. Does anybody have an idea how to change the new radio to increase the volume in my car? I could go through blue tooth but then you lose your regular radio in your car. Please email me at ffphotog@aol.com with any ideas.

Uniden told me to try and find a third-party speaker but leads me to believe no matter what you plug-in it will reduce the output of volume

BCD 325 Volume Issue

I bought a Bluetooth transmitter and piped my scanner through the car audio system and I bought a Bluetooth portable speaker and it seems to work very well. Secondly, in several older scanners, I plugged an external speaker with a plug on the speaker that I installed. I took the plastic shield off the plug and took a paperclip and connected it to the ground side of the plug and the ground side of the antenna connection and got full volume. Not pretty but it worked.

Good Luck!

I have a Homepatrol 1 with the Uniden amplified speaker and it works great ( tinny audio ) but I can live with that....... I used it in a Big Rig with plenty of volume.

What Amplified speaker are you using

I thought the Homepatrol & Uniden hand helds speakers were all the same

I saw a post here about a guy using his 436 with the uniden amplified speaker

You do have the amplified speaker connected to a DC source

Connect a set of pc speakers powered by USB (jack if you have one and cigarette lighter adaptor if you don't)

Amazon Basics has a set for $13. Loud solution.

I bought a uniden amplified speaker and I did power it . I called Uniden about it and they said it's the new scanner geared down for your protection unfortunately it will not be any louder with that speaker and I have the volume all the way up and it still sounds like it is as soft as it is coming out of the handheld . I always have to turn my radio down to hear what they are saying

I went out to my garage and got The Uniden Amplified speaker and my 436, hooked it up in my 2013 Prius, and it works flawless
I had the volume at 10-11 Loud volume to boot. The 436 volume goes up to 15

Uniden must of added some special limiter to the 325p2 speaker.

Might be time for a 436

So you are running your car stereo at the same time as your scanner and am wondering why you can't hear it? Maybe just turn the stereo off and listen to the scanner?

I listen to SiriusXM and my scanner(s) all the time. Some of us can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time...

Turn down the volume on the car stereo and you will find the scanner easier to hear. Otherwise you need to get something that will blast the scanner as I indicated above.

Use of ear buds GREATLY increases volume. I run my audio-out from scanner thru my stereo system. Native audio/spkr combo sucks.

When in my car I use Philips SHS3200BK/37 Flexible Earhook Headphones. I can hang it on my ear and not have to push it in the ear like the ear buds.

I wonder if the 325 suffers a similar fate of the 536 headphone problem where the wrong components were populated on the circuit board??

Easy for support to say things like the headphone output is limited, however, there may be another problem.

Also is the 1/8" plug going into the scanner Mono or Stereo? You may need a Stereo to Mono adapter? I think most of the newer handheld scanners are wired for Stereo headphones and plugging in a Mono plug will kill the output and frequency response of the scanner output.
