I know the "best" way is to remove the batteries but at times I like to have this running via USB in Auto Store mode and also have the charger set to 1 - 2 hours, just to give the batteries a charge, as I often use it for an hour or two of a night time.

Am I correct is seeing that it won't charge while it is turned on? I have a number of other scanners, such as my UBCD396XT which do charge at the same time.

If the 325 is running, it will power itself with USB power, leaving the batteries as they are. I run mine off of USB whenever I'm logging on ProScan.

1 - 2 hours of charging in the radio shouldn't be too bad so long as the cells have discharged sufficiently. Don't think of it as keeping the cells "topped off", but maintaining the level around ¾ full.

Thanks for the replies. My use is normally:
Run it via USB during the day (batteries don't disharge).
Use it portable of a night time for a couple of hours.

When I used my UBCD396XT like this, having it charge for 2 hours a day was enough to keep it going and I would pull out the batteries once a week and give them a full charge externally.
