Hi all. New here and novice with scanners. My new BCD325P2 pre programmed scanner drops conversation on every call. I saw in a web search about a delay setting. Not sure if that would help and if so I couldn't find a procedure to find it and adjust it.
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter!

Delay settings hold the scanner on channel for a predetermined amount of time, presumably to hear any reply’s. Signals dropping out sounds like a priority setting. Do the transmissions drop out and the scanner resumes scanning?

Set Delay Time sets the delay (in seconds) the amount of time the scanner stays on a channel after the transmission has ended before moving to the next channel. A negative delay will force a resume after that number of seconds. This setting applies to all channels in the system. You cannot set the delay on a 'per channel' basis. The default setting is 2 seconds.
Scroll to 'Set Delay Time' and press E/yes.
Scroll to the desired delay time (-10, -5, -2, 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, or 30 secs.) and press E/yes to save and exit.
delay is for a break in squelch, the negative time is like a sound sample of what is going on and then quits.
now hold is how long it sits and listens to the system.

Set Hold Time sets (in seconds) the amount of time the scanner will scan the system before moving on to the next system. All (unlocked) channels will be scanned at least once regardless of this setting. The scanner moves to the next system after the hold time expires, any current transmission ends, and the channel delay time expires. The default setting is 2 seconds for each system.
Tip
: set your systems to 0.
Scroll to 'Set Hold Time' and press E/yes.
Enter the hold time (0-255 seconds) you desire and press E/yes to save and exit
and that is from

and if you have more free time, another one.

It would be like talking on a field radio and releasing key for a few words then keying again.

Thanks for the info. I'll see what happens!

It sounds like Close Call or one of the priority modes are turned on. Each of these will cause interruptions in the received signal every couple of seconds. Check to see if you have one of these turned on:

it might sound a bit off, but check the squelch setting , too high and it might be at the tipping point of reception.
a setting of 2 should be good.
